Key Responsibilities
  • Act as day-to-day lead for a portfolio of investor relations and financial communications partners, from HKEX-listed companies to pre-IPO businesses, private equity and venture firms
  • Plan and run each partner's IR calendar: interim and annual results, AGMs, investor days, non-deal roadshows and conference participation
  • Draft and edit results announcements, press releases, investor presentations, Q&A documents, CEO and board scripts, shareholder letters and annual and ESG report narratives, in English and Chinese
  • Support transaction and milestone communications - IPOs and listings, fundraising rounds, M&A and strategic partnerships - working alongside sponsors, bankers, legal counsel and financial printers
  • Ensure all communications are consistent with HKEX Listing Rules and inside-information disclosure requirements, working with partners' legal and company secretarial teams on timing, blackout periods and the handling of price-sensitive information
  • Build and maintain relationships with financial journalists, sell-side analysts and institutional investors in Hong Kong and the region, securing the coverage, meetings and research interest that raise partners' profile with the investment community
  • Monitor share-price movements, peer announcements, analyst research and investor sentiment, turning them into clear, timely reporting and counsel for partners
  • Support partners through special situations - profit alerts, trading halts, shareholder activism or reputational issues affecting investor confidence - with calm counsel and fast execution
  • Act as the bridge between Hong Kong's capital markets and Ellerton's Southeast Asia and India network: supporting regional partners seeking Hong Kong investors, and Hong Kong-based partners expanding into the region
  • Contribute to new-business proposals and pitches, and help grow Ellerton's investor relations practice in Hong Kong
  • Guide and mentor junior colleagues, and coordinate with Ellerton's PR teams across markets on integrated programmes
Requirements
  • Five to eight years' experience in investor relations or financial communications - at an IR or financial PR agency, in-house at a listed company, or in a closely related field such as equity research, corporate finance or financial journalism
  • Working knowledge of the HKEX Listing Rules, the results-reporting cycle and inside-information disclosure requirements; exposure to other Asian exchanges is an advantage
  • Financial literacy: able to read and interpret financial statements, understand valuation basics and hold a credible conversation with a CFO, analyst or fund manager
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with professional fluency in Cantonese and Mandarin and the ability to write and edit Chinese-language materials (traditional and simplified)
  • Established relationships with Hong Kong financial media and sell-side analysts; existing institutional investor relationships are a strong advantage
  • A track record across at least two of: results communications, IPO or listing communications, fundraising announcements, M&A communications, ESG reporting
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Communications or a related field; a CFA charter or HKIRA membership or certification is an advantage
  • Exacting attention to detail, discretion with confidential information, and the composure to manage results season and unscheduled announcements under time pressure
  • Able to collaborate effectively within a distributed team, work closely with colleagues across Ellerton's regional offices, and travel occasionally within the region
